Soldiers from 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (1 RAR) arrived at Dili’s International Airport on the 21st March 2007. 1 RAR commanded by Lt Col Andrew Gallaway, will relieve 6 RAR and take over security duties in Timor-Leste. The force consists of 1 RAR, a company from the 1st Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, a combat support and logistic element, medical elements, an aviation element, an engineering troop, and a cavalry element with an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) section.
